The Springfield Symphony’s final concert of their 77th season will feature performances of music from classic Disney movies. The family-friendly pops concert will take place on May 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.
The evening’s concert, which was produced by Disney, will feature the Springfield Symphony Orchestra performing music from big-name Disney movies while images from the films are projected on a large screen above the orchestra.

Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield has announced its annual Arts in the Park schedule. Arts in the Park is a free* concert series presented at the battlefield.
May 5, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. –Red Bridge – This group of entertainers provides high energy & high entertainment shows, which includes fun and natural humor. With their great musicianship, and most of all, a strong variety of songs from which to draw upon, the audience is kept entertained & tappin’ their feet.
May 12, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. – Bob Hammons & Wildwood - This gospel group was voted 2012 Midwest Gospel Group of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America. They play 50-80 engagements a year, including festivals, fairs, and churches.

Primus will perform live in Springfield June 1 at the Gillioz Theatre. An Evening with Primus will showcase the band’s unique sound and off-beat approach that has allowed them to stand apart in the musical landscape. Tickets are $39.50.

Tickets are on sale for the Steven Curtis Chapman concert at 7 p.m. March 4 at the Gillioz Theatre in Springfield. The “Songs & Stories” tour also includes performances by Andrew Peterson and Josh Wilson.After performing in front of sold out crowds across the country, the Show HOPE sponsored tour continues to be in high demand and as a result Chapman has continued with a spring leg of the intimate tour.
During this unique writer’s night, Chapman performs songs from his latest album re:creation and more, including his most recent No. 1 and just 2012 GRAMMY nominated hit ”Do Everything.” Chapman also opens up about the stories that inspired him to write the songs that have impacted lives around the world.

SRO Lyric Theatre kicks off the second half of its 2011-2012 season with an evening of one acts at the Gillioz Theatre, the regional premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tell Me On A Sunday and the return of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan’s Trial by Jury; February 17 at 7:30pm & February 19 at 2:00pm, directed by Derek Munson and conducted by Amy Muchnick.

The Springfield Symphony’s first concert of the new year will feature an All-American lineup of music and Missouri State professor of music and Springfield Symphony principal cellist, Michael Murray, as soloist.
Springfield Symphony music director and conductor, Ron Spigelman, will lead the orchestra in performing works by four different and contrasting American composers – Aaron Copland, Howard Hanson, André Previn and Marc Mellits – at the concert on Jan. 21 at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.

Tickets go on sale Jan. 20 for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bluesman B.B. King at The Gillioz Theatre. The show is at 8 p.m. March 20. King has been one of the most influential figures in all of music for more than six decades. Along with his famous guitar, Lucille, King has revolutionized and reinvigorated blues music and brought inspiration to musicians and fans of every style. His lifetime of musicianship was honored in 1987 when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at number three on its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.
