  1. Feed Your Face: Dinner and a Movie

    The Downtown Springfield Association (DSA) is sponsoring the 4th annual “Dinner and a Movie” event. 

    Customers who come downtown for dinner will be able to purchase movie tickets for $5 each (up to a savings of 47% per adult movie ticket) at the participating restaurant with purchase of an entrée.

    With only one month left of the special deal, DSA is suggesting possible combinations of restaurants and movies to see downtown.

  2. Interactive Fountain, Stream Great Place to Cool Off

    The Ozarks Stream and Fountain at Jordan Valley Park, 735 E. Trafficway, is now operational, after being down for unexpected maintenance with the system’s chlorination system.

    The Fountain runs from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily for 30 minutes at the beginning of each hour, seven days a week. It will be on continuously during the lunch hour from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The stream runs continuously. Both features’ schedules may vary for park rentals, community events or maintenance.

  4. Check Out The New Downtown Thursday Night Market

    The Greater Springfield Farmers Market and the Urban Districts Alliance have partnered to bring a new Thursday night market to Jubilee Park.

    The market will be held from 3:30 to 7:30pm each week to serve the 25,000 employees and 16,000 residents within a mile of downtown.  Located at Jefferson and St. Louis, it will be very convenient to those working near the Square, at Government Plaza, Hammons Tower, or any of the three nearby colleges.

    Amenities of the new site will include local live music, accepting EBT and debit cards, and the green space of Jubilee Park.  Over 20 Greater Springfield Farmers Market vendors have committed to bring a wide variety of bedding plants, fruits, vegetables, meats, herbs, coffee, honey, granola, fresh baked goods and other sweets, cut flowers, crafts made by local artisans, skin care, and much more.

  5. Fireworks at the Field Promises to be Big Fun July 2

    The Urban Districts Alliance has partnered with CoxHealth, the Springfield Cardinals, John Q. Hammons Industries, and multiple downtown venues to host the “Fireworks at the Field” Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 2.

    Patrons can listen to local live music, play on inflatibles from Amberg Entertainment in the Bill Rowe Training Center at Hammons Field, create art crafts at The Creamery Arts Center, ice skate at Mediacom Ice Park, enjoy the hands-on activities of the Discovery Center, and see the region’s largest fireworks show from the Hammons Field outfield grass with the purchase of a sticker.

    Rusty Worley, Executive Director of the Urban Districts Alliance, said “The concept of this new event grew out of our 20 years of success with First Night.  We’re excited that our venues have come together to offer such a variety of quality entertainment.  Southwest Missouri has demonstrated a love for Independence Day and we look forward to hosting thousands of patrons throughout downtown.”

    Big Smith and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin will be two of the event’s headlining groups performing at Hammons Field.  A variety of other local bands will begin at 3 pm (the full schedule will be announced in the coming weeks).

  6. “Dinner and a Ballgame” Available for 2011 Season

    The Springfield Cardinals and the Downtown Springfield Association have partnered on a new “Dinner and a Ballgame” promotion.  Patrons dining at any of the 10 participating downtown restaurants will be able to purchase a voucher for a field box ticket for a game of their choice for only $5 with purchase of an entrée.
