1. Feed Your Face: Dinner and a Movie

    Published: January 20, 2012

The Downtown Springfield Association (DSA) is sponsoring the 4th annual “Dinner and a Movie” event.

Customers who come downtown for dinner will be able to purchase movie tickets for $5 each (up to a savings of 47% per adult movie ticket) at the participating restaurant with purchase of an entrée.

With only one month left of the special deal, DSA is suggesting possible combinations of restaurants and movies to see downtown.

    A Family Outing

Do you want to take the whole family out for an evening of fun downtown? Start at Flying Tomato, Park Central Square’s newest restaurant, for some good Italian food and a family-friendly atmosphere. After dinner, check out “The Adventures of Tintin” at Hollywood Theaters for a film that the whole family will enjoy.

    Ladies Night Out

For the ladies, put on your cutest cocktail dress and head over to Fedora for some sophisticated yet fun dining. Who doesn’t love fondue? Then celebrate life’s unexpected surprises with the heart-warming film, “We Bought a Zoo,” at Hollywood Theaters.

    Guys Night Out

Is it time for some male bonding with co-workers or college friends? Check out Springfield Brewing Company with an All-American menu and great selection of homemade beer on tap. End the night with the action-packed film, “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” at Hollywood Theaters.

    College Student Night

College students, are you looking for a cheap way to have fun downtown? Or are you looking to reunite with some college buddies? Check out Big Whiskey’s for an All-American bar and grill experience. Then head over to the Moxie to see the satirical, dark comedy “Young Adult.”

    A Romantic Evening for Two

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and this downtown deal is a perfect way to celebrate your love on a budget. What could be more romantic than Italian food at Nonna’s? Afterwards, see “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” at Hollywood Theaters. This inspiring film is sure to be a tearjerker.

    An Evening in London

Do you have a mixture of friends looking for a good time with a British flare? Try the Farmers Gastropub, which has the atmosphere of a true English pub. With a full belly, go see the second “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” at Hollywood Theaters to complete your miniature night in England.

A Sophisticated Night for the Kid at Heart

If you are interested in foreign films, be sure to check out the Moxie’s premier of “The Hedgehog”, a coming of age story about a young girl who learns to see people’s true self beyond their prickly exterior. This heart-warming French film would be nicely complimented with a meal from Mille’s Turn of the Century Café.

    An Action-Packed Evening

Love action movies and sports? Check out the causal and sports dining at St. Michael’s, and end the night by seeing George Lucas’s new film, “Red Tails,” at Hollywood Theaters for opening weekend.

    The Double Date

Because every couple needs a couple to double date with, consider taking your best couple friends out to Bruno’s this weekend for a fine Italian experience. After dinner, bring your sense of humor to “Carnage” showing at the Moxie this weekend. The film is about two couples discussing a fight their sons were in and how that night becomes increasingly less cordial.

    Night of Nostalgia

Indulge in a night of nostalgia starting off with the buffet at The Bistro Market, where everyone can find something delicious. Afterwards, slip back in time to see the classic film, “Beauty and the Beast” in 3D at Hollywood Theaters.
