1. Feed Your Face: New Year’s Eve

    New Year’s Eve celebrations abound every year but have you thought about where and what you’ll eat that day?
     
    If not, here are a few ideas for you.
     
    The Tower Club will have a New Year’s Eve celebration beginning at 8 p.m. featuring a band, dinner, dancing, fireworks, champagne and party favors and the option of getting a room at University Plaza Hotel just across the street.

    The four-course menu includes:

    Appetizer – Sea Scallop Tartlet with Orange Scented Hollandaise, Green Apple Relish, served with a Mini Crab Cake with Tai Chile and Remoulade.

    Salad – Baby Greens served in a Parmesan Basket with Raspberry Vinaigrette Balsamic Syrup, fresh Mozzarella and shaved Parmesan cheeses.

    Entrée – Slow Roasted Beef Tenderloin, served with Marsala Wine Sauce, red pepper mashed potatoes and garlic green beans.

    Dessert – Chocolate Silk Tart served with chocolate mint ice cream, Blackberry Whiskey Sauce and topped with a Butterfly Cookie Garnish.

    Cost is $75 per person or $250 a couple with a room at the hotel.

    Another option is the New Year’s Eve special at Springfield Pasta Company. The restaurant will be open until 10 p.m. and features a full bar and wine list.

    Along with drink specials, the dinner special is a New Year’s Celebration for Two. Start with a Toasted Ravioli appetizer, each with a choice of regular size pastas, share a famous Pasta Company cheesecake and finish the perfect meal with two glasses of champagne, all for only $29.99.

    If you’re not going out but want food delivered, give Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe a call at 417-851-6900 or 417-887-7300. The menu features soup, salad, sandwiches and pizza.

    Pickleman’s will be open 10 a.m.-2 a.m. New Year’s Eve.

    After the celebrating is done, start the New Year off on Jan. 1 with complimentary black-eyed peas at Village Inn. Eating black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day has been a good luck tradition in the United States since the Civil War.
